Hi Damian,
This time last year I was picking out a Birthday Card and present for my Dad. It was his 66th Birthday and we joked about him retiring, getting the State Pension and of course enjoying the 'Free Travel'!!
Little did I think that just 3 months later I would be talking to Damian Bolton of Bolton Print Centre about choosing Dad's (RIP) Memoriam card.
There are lots of tasks facing those left behind when a loved one dies
many of which you feel utterly unprepared for. In the months following
Dad's death, the task of designing the Acknowledgement and Memoriam Cards weighed heavy on my mind. I can clearly recall that initial telephone conversation with Damian and looking back now I realise I was still in a state of shock at the sudden death of my Dad and really didn't know where to begin.
Damian was so patient, kind and understanding that day and I
just knew that whenever I was ready to face this job, he would look after me.In the meantime, he posted me a very impressive sample pack which was full of ideas and options from bookmarks to notelets to the more traditional memoriam cards.
I remember Damian had said that whatever we wanted both he and Sheena
would do their best to create it. We wanted to use some images we had
sourced ourselves and that was no problem - they came out in the finished cards looking better than the originals! I was also grateful for Damian's advice and guidance at different stages in putting the proof together afterall he had far more experience than I!!(thankfully).
The finished cards surpassed our expectations - they were beautiful. Above all I think my Dad would have been delighted with them and that was comforting. Since posting them, many relatives and friends have sent cards and texts saying how absolutely perfect they were.
We had reached a milestone in the grieving process and overcoming that
milestone was made so much easier thanks to Damian's absolute
professionalism, creativity, experience and good humour.
