WEB 001. THE ROSE BEYOND THE WALL

A rose once grew
where all could see,
sheltered beside a garden wall,
and as the days passed
swiftly by,
it spread its branches
straight and tall….
One day, a beam of light
shone through a crevice
that had opened wide -
The rose bent gently
toward its warmth
then passed beyond
to the other side….
Now you who deeply feel its loss,
be comforted -
the rose blooms there -
its beauty even greater now,
nurtured by God’s
own loving care.

WEB 002. TOGETHERNESS

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away
into the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
that we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name,
speak to me in the easy
way you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh at the little jokes
we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me.
Pray for me.

Let my name be the household
name it always was.
Let it be spoken without the shadow
of a ghost in it. Life means all that
it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
What is death but a negligible accident.
Why should I be out of your mind
because I am out of sight.
All is well nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will
be as it was before.

WEB 003. WE HOLD YOU CLOSE

We hold you close
within our hearts
and there you
shall remain.
To walk with us
throughout our lives
until we meet again.
So rest in peace
dear loved one,
and thanks for all
you’ve done.
We pray that God
has given you
the crown you’ve
truly won.

WEB 004. A bouquet of beautiful memories, Female

A bouquet of beautiful memories,
Sprayed with a million tears,
Wishing God could have spared you
If just for a few more years.

It does not take a special day,
For us to think of you;
Each Mass we hear, each prayer we say,
Is offered up for you.

We cannot bring the old days back,
When we were all together,
The family chain is broken now,
But memories live forever.

May she rest in peace dear Jesus,
In Thy Heavenly home above,
With the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
In His Own Eternal Love.

WEB 005. ROAD TO ETERNITY

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road,
To sweet eternity.

We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay…

Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know,
For some the journey’s quicker,
For some the journey’s slow.

But when the journey finally ends,
We’ll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the Lord.

WEB 006. REMEMBER ME WHEN I AM GONE AWAY

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad

WEB 007. FOOTPRINTS

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it.

“LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don’t understand why when I needed You most You would leave me”.

The LORD replied, “My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you”.

WEB 008. THE MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious
Virgin Mary that never was it
known that anyone who fled to
Thy protection, implored Thy
help or sought Thy intercession,
was left unaided. Inspired by this
confidence I fly unto Thee,
O Virgin of Virgins, my Mother;
to Thee do I come, before Thee
I kneel sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word incarnate,
despise not my petitions, but in
Thy clemency hear and answer me.
Amen.

WEB 009. AFTERGLOW

I’d like the memory of me
to be a happy one.
I’d like to leave an Afterglow of
smiles when Life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo
whispering softly down the ways
of happy times and laughing times
and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve,
to dry before the sun.
Of happy memories that
I leave when Life is done.

WEB 010. OUR LADY OF KNOCK

I come to Thee, my Mother,
to lay before Thy feet,
my fears, my hopes, my longings,
my bitter hours and sweat.

O take them Mother Mary,
and place them by God’s throne,
your hands will give them value,
they’re worthless on their own.

As I kneel before you,
speak to your Son for me,
though poor and small my offering,
I know ’tis dear to thee.

For you your Son at Cana,
changed water into wine,
the needs of bride and bridegroom,
were small compared to mine.

And so, my Mother Mary,
I lay before Thy feet,
my fears, my hopes, my longings,
my bitter hours and sweat.

WEB 011. LONELY IS THE HOME WITHOUT YOU

Lonely is the home without you,
Life to us is not the same;
All the world would be like heaven,
If we could have you back again.

Our lips cannot speak how we loved him/her,
Our hearts cannot tell what we say,
But God only knows how we miss him/her,
In our home that is lonely today,

And pray that God may give us strength,
To bear our heavy cross;
For no one knows but only He,
The treasure we have lost.

Merciful Jesus,
grant eternal rest to the
souls of the faithfully departed.

WEB 012. PERHAPS

Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
Or sat quietly in a chair;
Perhaps you sent beautiful
flowers, If so, we saw
them there.
Perhaps you sent or
spoke kind words
As any friend could say;
Perhaps you were not
there at all
Just thought of us that day.
Whatever you did to
console the heart
We thank you so much,
Whatever the part.

WEB 013. A bouquet of beautiful memories, Male

A bouquet of beautiful memories,
Sprayed with a million tears,
Wishing God could have spared you
If just for a few more years.

It does not take a special day,
For us to think of you;
Each Mass we hear, each prayer we say,
Is offered up for you.

We cannot bring the old days back,
When we were all together,
The family chain is broken now,
But memories live forever.

May he rest in peace dear Jesus,
In Thy Heavenly home above,
With the Sacred Heart of Jesus,
In His Own Eternal Love.

WEB 014. SAFELY HOME

I am home in Heaven dear loved ones,
Oh, so happy and so bright,
There is perfect joy and beauty,
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over;
Every restless tossing passed.
I am now at peace forever,
Safely Home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly,
Trod the valley of the shade,
Oh, but Jesus’ love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me,
In that way so hard to tread.
And with Jesus’ arm to lean on
Could I have one doubt or dread.

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still.
Try to look beyond Earth’s shadows,
Pray to trust Our Father’s will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now while life remaineth.
You shall rest in Jesus’ land.

When the work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home.
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come.

WEB 015. What she suffered she told but few,

What she suffered she told but few,
She did not deserve what she went through,
Tired and weary she made no fuss,
But tried so hard to stay with us.

Two tired eyes are sleeping,
Two willing hands are still;
The one who worked so hard for us,
Is resting at God’s Will.

Our lips cannot speak how we loved her,
Our hearts cannot tell what to say;
But God only knows how we miss her,
In our home that is lonely today.

She bade no one a last farewell,
She raised her hand to none;
Her spirit flew before she knew,
That she from us had gone.

Your life was love and labour,
Your love for your family true;
You did your best for all of us,
We will always remember you.

WEB 016. HER JOURNEY'S JUST BEGUN

Don’t think of her as gone away
her journey’s just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days or years.

Think how she must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she touched
for nothing loved is ever lost
and she was loved so much.

WEB 017. A LETTER FROM HEAVEN

I’m writing this from Heaven
Where I dwell with God above
Where there’s no more
tears and sadness
There’s just eternal love.

When you are walking down the street
And you’ve got me on your mind
I’m walking in your footsteps
Only half a step behind.

And when you feel that gentle breeze
Or the wind upon your face
That’s me giving you
A great big hug
Or just a soft embrace.

And when it’s time for you to go
From that body to be free
Remember you’re not going
You are coming here to me.

WEB 018. DON'T GRIEVE FOR ME

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play,
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy,
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full,
I’ve savoured much,
Good friends, good times,
A loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.

WEB 019. A LAST GOODBYE

Though happily each year had begun,
I had to die whilst very young.
It is so long since our last touch,
And I miss your presence there so much.

Of many things I needed to learn,
So to this place, God made me turn.
Yet with so many things to do,
I have taken this moment to speak to you.

The life that was, was not to be mine,
Yet within this world it has worked out fine.
Where I am now, I have found new friends,
In a place called Heaven, where the spirit ascends.

Straight to this world, few pass it by,
And no one here can really die.
Although this child, you cannot see,
I know you’d be so proud of me.

I look forward to when I’ll see you,
So until it’s your time to come,
Enjoy your life, and please don’t cry,
I just came to say a last goodbye

WEB 020. GODS GARDEN

God looked around His garden
And found an empty place.
He then looked down
upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.

He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest,
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering.
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.

He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered “Peace be Thine”.

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

WEB 021. HAIL HOLY QUEEN

Hail, Holy Queen,
Mother of Mercy,
our Life, our Sweetness,
and our Hope.
To Thee do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve.
To Thee do we send up
our sighs mourning
and weeping in this
valley of tears.
Turn then, most
gracious Advocate,
Thine Eyes of Mercy
toward us, and after this
our exile show us the Blessed
Fruit of thy Womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving,
O sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us O Holy Mother of God
That we may be made worthy
of the promises of Christ.
Amen.

WEB 022. PADRE PIO PRAYER

O Jesus, full of grace and charity,
victim for sinners, so impelled by love
for us that you willed to die on the
cross, I humbly beseech you to glorify
in heaven and on earth the Servant of
God, Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, who
generously participated in Your
sufferings, who loved Thee so much
and laboured so faithfully for the
glory of Your heavenly Father and for
the good of souls. With confidence, I
beseech Thee to grant me, through his
intercession, the grace of … which I
ardently desire.
Glory be to the Father… (Three times.)

WEB 023. A PRAYER OF SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Lord, make me an instrument
of Your peace.
Where there is hatred,
let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light,
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may
not so much seek to be consoled,
as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that
We receive—
It is in pardoning that we are
pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are
born to eternal life.

WEB 024. WE LOST A MOTHER WITH A HEART OF GOLD

We lost a mother with a heart of gold,
How much we miss her can never be told,
She shared our troubles and helped us along.
If we follow her footsteps
we will never go wrong.

We miss you from your fireside chair,
Your loving smile and gentle air,
Your vacant place no one can fill,
We miss you mother and always will.

She was a mother so very rare,
Content in her home and always there,
On earth she toiled, in Heaven she rests,
God bless you mother
you were one of the best.

Each time we look at your picture,
You seem to smile and say,
Don’t be sad but courage take
And love each other for my sake.

O sweet Jesus, for the sake of Thy Bitter
Passion and the sorrows of Thy Immaculate
Mother have mercy on her soul, and let the light
of Thy countenance shine upon her.

WEB 025. GONE ONLY FROM OUR SIGHT

Gone Only From Our Sight.
I am standing on the seashore.
Suddenly a ship at my side
spreads her white sails to the morning breeze,
and starts out for the blue ocean.
She is an object of beauty and strength,
And I stand and watch her
until at length she is only
a ribbon of white cloud
just above where the sea and sky
mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says:
"There! She’s gone!"

Gone where?
From my sight-that is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar
as she was when she left my side,
and just as able to bear her load of living
freight to the place of destination.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her,
and just at the moment when
someone at my side says:
"There, she’s gone!"
there are other voices ready
to take the glad shout,
"there! She comes!"

And that is dying.

WEB 026. PRAYER OF CARDINAL NEWMAN

Prayer of Cardinal Newman
O Lord, support us all the day long
of this troubled life,
until the shades lengthen,
and the evening comes,
and the busy world is hushed,
the fever of life is over,
and our work is done.
Then, Lord, in your mercy,
grant us safe lodging,
a holy rest, and peace at last,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

WEB 027. MISS ME, BUT LET ME GO

When I come to the end of the road,
And the sun has set on me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room,
Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me - but let me go.

For this is a journey we all must take,
And each must go it alone,
It’s all part of the master’s plan,
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrow
in doing good deeds,
Miss me - but let me go.

WEB 028. GOD SAW YOU GETTNG TIRED

God saw you getting tired,
And a cure was not to be;
So he put his arms around you,
And whispered, “Come to me”.

With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away;
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us,
He only takes the best.

WEB 029. PRECIOUS GIFT

You were a precious gift from God above,
so much beauty, grace and love.
You touched our hearts in so many ways,
your smile so bright even on the bad days.
You heard God's whisper calling you home,
you didn't want to go and leave us alone.
You loved us so much, you held on tight,
till all the strength was gone and you could no longer fight.
He had called your name twice before,
you knew you couldn't make Him wait anymore.
So you gave your hand to God and slowly drifted away,
knowing that with our love we will be together again some day.

WEB 030. ETERNAL LIGHT

Eternal Light
Those we love must someday pass beyond our present sight... Must leave us and the world we know without their radiant light. But we know that like a candle their lovely light will surely shine to brighten up another place more perfect... more divine. And in the realm of Heaven where they shine so warm and bright. Our loved ones live forevermore in God’s eternal light.

WEB 031. BROKEN CHAIN

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; for part of us went with you the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again

WEB 032. MOTHER

You can only have one mother
patient kind and true;
no other friend in all the world,
will be the same to you.

When other friends forsake you,
to mother you will return, for
all her loving kindness, she asks
nothing in return.

As we look upon her picture,
sweet memories we recall,
of a face so full of sunshine,
and a smile for one and all.

Sweet Jesus, take this message,
to our dear mother up above;
tell her how we miss her,
and give her all our love.

WEB 033. WALK ALONE

Should you go first and I remain, to walk the road alone, I’ll live in memories garden, dear, with happy days we’ve known. In spring I’ll wait for roses red, when faded, the lilacs blue. In early fall when brown leaves fall, I’ll catch a glimpse of you. I’ll hear your voice, I’ll see your smile, though blindly I may grope, the memory of your helping hand will buoy me on with hope. Should you go first and I remain, one thing I’ll have you do: walk slowly down that long long path, for soon I’ll follow you. I want to know each step you take, so I may take the same. For someday down that lonely road, you’ll hear me call your name.

WEB 034. THE GOLFERS PRAYER

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep I Pray The Lord My Life To Keep Though I Know You’ll Eventually Take My Soul Please Let Me Prepare At The 19th Hole

Your gentle face and patient smile. With sadness we recall you had a kindly word for each and died beloved by all. The voice is mute and stilled the heart that loved us well and true. Ah, bitter was the trial to part from one so good as you. You are not forgotten loved one nor will you ever be as long as life and memory last we will remember thee. We miss you now, our hearts are sore, as time goes by we miss you more, your loving smile, your gentle face no one can fill your vacant place.

We sat beside your bedside, our hearts were crushed and sore; we did our best to the end, ‘til we could do no more. In tears we watched you sinking, we watched you fade away; and though our hearts were breaking, we knew you could not stay. You left behind some aching hearts, that loved you most sincere; we never shall and never will forget you Mother/Father dear.

WEB 035. GOING TO HEAVEN

When I am gone, release me, let me go I have so many things to see and do. You mustn’t tie yourselves to me with tears, just be happy that we had some years. I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it’s time I traveled on alone. Do grieve a while for me if you must then let your grief be comforted by trust. It’s only for a while that we must part, so keep our memories within your hearts. I won’t be far away, for life goes on, so if you need me call and I will come. Though you can’t see or touch me I’ll be near, and if you listen with your heart you will hear, all of my love around so soft and dear. And then when you must come this way alone, I’ll greet you with a smile and say welcome home.

WEB 036. REMEMBERING YOU

Your time on earth seemed all too brief
because I wanted you in my life forever.
And although I really miss you,
in my heart I know that you are at peace.

Still, countless times throughout the day
I find myself remembering you.
Although I cannot see or hear you,
I know that you are with me.

I'll feel you in the warmth
of the summer sun.
I'll see you in the brilliance
of autumn leaves.
You'll be beside me in the peacefulness
of a gentle snowfall and rejoice
with me at the emergence of the first
flowers of spring.

I'm thankful for the times we shared
and the priceless memories too;
for those memories are a comfort now
when I lovingly: - Remember You

WEB 037. PRAYER TO PADRE PIO

O God,
You gave Saint Pio of Pietrelcina,
capuchin priest, the great
privilege of participating
in a unique way in the passion
of Your Son, grant me through his intercession the grace of ...
which I ardently desire;
and above all grant me the
grace of living in
conformity with the
death of Jesus, to arrive at the glory of the resurrection.
Glory be to the Father.

WEB 038. REMEMBER ME VERSION 1

Don't remember me with sadness,
Don’t remember me with tears,
Remember all the laughter,
We’ve shared throughout the years.
Now I am contented
That my life it was worthwhile,
Knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile.
When you are walking down the street
And you’ve got me on your mind,
I’m walking in your footsteps
Only half a step behind.
So please don’t be unhappy
Just because I’m out of sight,
Remember that I’m with you
Each morning, noon and night.

WEB 039. MEMORIES

Death leaves heartache
No one can heal,
Memories are treasures
No one can steal,
Some may forget you
Now that you are gone,
But we will remember
No matter how long.
You will always stay
loved and remembered,
In every way,
No tears, no verse,
Can ever say how much
we miss you every day.

WEB 040. HE’S SLEEPING NOW

We all gathered around him
And watched as he did sleep,
With sadness in our hearts
And tears that we did weep.

We knew what lay before us,
We felt it in our hearts,
And as he seemed so close to us then,
We were many worlds apart.

We watched him as he lay in silence,
Waiting for him to open his eyes.
To look up at us all and say:
No tears, no heartache, no sad goodbyes.

We placed a single rose upon his coffin,
A symbol of our love for him.
A single loving kiss.
And then we played his final song,
To show to him how much he will be missed.

We will never forget that day,
When you fell asleep without saying goodbye.
You will forever be in our hearts,
And precious memories of you will never die.

May you forever rest in peace.
Love always.

WEB 041. TO THOSE I LOVE AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME

When I am gone, release me, let me go,
I have so many things to see and do,
You mustn’t tie yourself to me in tears,
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave to you my love, you can only guess,
How much you gave to me in happiness,
I thank you for the love you each have shown,
But now it’s time I travelled on alone.
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust,
It’s only for a while that we must part,
So bless the memories within your heart,
I won’t be far away, for life goes on,
So if you need me call and I will come,
Though you can’t see or touch me,
I’ll be near;
And if you listen with your heart you’ll hear,
All my love around you, soft and clear.
And then when you must come
this way alone,
I’ll greet you with a smile and a
“WELCOME HOME”.

WEB 042. THOSE WE HOLD

Those we hold most dear
never truly leave us,
they live on in the kindness
they showed,
the comfort they shared,
and the love they brought into our lives

WEB 043. 3 O'CLOCK PRAYER TO THE DIVINE MERCY

You expired, Jesus, but the source of life
gushed forth for souls and the
ocean of mercy opened up for the
whole world. O Fountain of Life,
unfathomable Divine Mercy,
envelop the whole world and empty
Yourself out upon us.

O Blood and Water,
which gushed forth from the
Heart of Jesus
as a fountain of mercy for us,
I trust in You.

Holy God, Holy Mighty One,
Holy Immortal One,
Have mercy on us and on the
whole world.
JESUS, King of mercy, I trust in You!
Amen

WEB 044. PRAYER TO SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES

Most humble Saint Martin whose burning charity embraces all, but especially those who are sick,
afflicted or in need, we turn to thee for help in our present difficulties and we implore thee to
obtain for us from God health of soul and body, and in particular the favour we now ask....
May we, by imitating thy charity and humility, find quiet and contentment all our days,
and cheerful submission to God’s holy will in all the trials and difficulties of life.
Amen

WEB 045. DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE

Do not stand at my
grave and weep,
I am not there,
I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds
that blow,
I am the diamond glints
on snow.
I am the sunlight on
ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift, uplifting
rush of quiet birds
in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that
shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave
and cry, I am not there:
I did not die.

WEB 046. TO THOSE I LEFT BEHIND

To those I have left behind,
Some things I’d like to say,
But first of all to let you know
That I’ve arrived ok.
I’m writing this from Heaven,
Where I dwell with God above,
Where there’s no more
tears and sadness,
There’s just eternal love.
The day I had to leave you,
When my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me,
And said “I welcome you”.
Please do not be unhappy,
Just because I’m out of sight,
Remember that I’m with you,
Every morning, noon and night.
And when you feel that gentle breeze,
Or wind upon your face,
That’s me giving you a great big hug,
Or just a soft embrace.
And when it’s time for you to go,
From that body to be free,
Remember you’re not going,
You are coming here to me.
P.S. God sends His love.

WEB 047. NOW I AM CONTENTED

Now I am contented
that my life it was worthwhile,
Knowing as I passed along the way
I made somebody smile.

When you are walking down the street
And you’ve got me on your mind
I’m walking in your footsteps
Only half a step behind.

And when you face the gentle breeze
Or the wind upon your face,
That’s me giving you a great big hug
Or just a soft embrace.

So please don’t be unhappy,
Just because I’m out of sight,
Remember that I’m with you,
Every morning, noon and night.

WEB 048. WHEN I MUST LEAVE YOU

When I must leave you
for a little while,
Please do not grieve and shed
wild tears, and hug your sorrow
to you through the years
But start out bravely with
a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in my name,
Live on and do all things the same.
Feed not your loneliness
on empty days,
But fill each waking hour
in useful ways.
Reach out your hand in comfort
and in cheer,
And I in turn will comfort you
and hold you near.
And never, never, be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!

Guardian Angel from
Heaven so bright, Watching beside me to lead me aright,
Fold thy wings round me,

WEB 050. IT WAS A SUDDEN PARTING

It was a sudden parting,
Too bitter to forget,
Those who loved you dearly,
Are the ones who can’t forget.

We often sit and think of you,
And think of how you died,
To think you could not say goodbye,
Before you closed your eyes.

Your life was one of kindly deeds,
A helping hand for other’s needs,
Sincere and true in heart and mind,
Beautiful memories left behind.

The blow was hard, the shock severe,
To part with one we loved so dear,
Our loss is great, we’ll not complain,
But trust in God to meet again.

Two tired eyes are sleeping,
Two willing hands are still,
The one who worked so hard for us,
Is resting at God’s will.

Our family chain is broken,
Nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one,
The links shall join again.

Sincere and true in heart and mind,
Beautiful memories left behind.

WEB 052. THERE IS NO NIGHT WITHOUT A DAWNING

There is no night without a dawning,
No winter without a spring and
beyond deaths dark horizon
Our hearts once more will sing....
For those who leave us for
a while have only gone away
out of the restless careworn
world into a brighter day.

WEB 053. OUR MEMORIES

Our Memories
They say there is a reason,
They say that time will heal,
But neither time or reason,
Will change the way we feel.
For no one knows the heartache,
That lies behind our smiles,
No one knows how many times,
We have broken down and cried;
We want to tell you something,
So there won't be any doubt,
You're so wonderful to think of,
But so hard to live without.

WEB 054. THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD

The lord is my shepherd
I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in
green pastures,
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul;

He leadeth me in the paths of
righteousness for His Name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil
for Thou art with me;
Thy rod and Thy staff
they comfort me...

Surely goodness and mercy
Will follow me
all the days of my life,
And I will dwell
in the House of the Lord forever

WEB 055. MOTHER OF MERCY

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
Hail our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry,
poor banished children of Eve,
To thee do we send up our sighs,
Mourning and weeping in this
valley of tears. Turn then, most
gracious Advocate, thine eyes
of mercy towards us.
And after this our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit
of thy womb Jesus.
O clement, O loving,
O sweet Virgin Mary,
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God,
that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen

WEB 056. TO THOSE WHO I LOVE MOST DEAR

WEB 059. YOU NEVER SAID GOODBYE

You never said I'm leaving
You never said goodbye.
You were gone before I knew it,
And only God knew why.

A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.

It broke my heart to lose you,
But you didn't go alone
For part of me went with you,
The day God took you home.

WEB 060. MEMORIES OF YOU

I remember everything about you,
your voice, your smile, your touch,
the way you walked, the way you talked,
the way you looked at me, meant so much.

I remember all the words you said to me,
some funny, some kind, some wise,
all of the things you did for me,
I see now with different eyes.

I remember every moment we shared,
seems like only yesterday,
or maybe it was eons ago,
It's really hard to say.

You are gone from me now,
but one thing they can't take away,
your memory resides inside my heart,
and lights up my darkest days.

WEB 061. What he suffered he told but few,

What he suffered he told but few,
He did not deserve what he went through,
Tired and weary he made no fuss,
But tried so hard to stay with us.

Two tired eyes are sleeping,
Two willing hands are still;
The one who worked so hard for us,
Is resting at God’s Will.

Our lips cannot speak how we loved him,
Our hearts cannot tell what to say;
But God only knows how we miss him,
In our home that is lonely today.

He bade no one a last farewell,
He raised his hand to none;
His spirit flew before he knew,
That he from us had gone.

Your life was love and labour,
Your love for your family true;
You did your best for all of us,
We will always remember you.

WEB 062. MOTHER VERSE VERSION 2

You're in our hearts forever
And will always be our guide
When we need you to be here
We'll know you're by our side

Our memories we will hold dear
And treasure all our lives
Your smile, your warmth and kindness
In us your love will thrive

A star is now in heaven
A bright light shines above
For all to see and cherish
Filled with our Mothers love

So whenever we are lonely
And missing you being near
We only have to look above
To feel your warmth and cheer

Although our hearts are broken
And nothing feels the same
You will always be remembered
We will always say your name

So when you're watching over us
And peeping through the clouds
we'll live our dreams with happiness
Dear Mam we'll make you proud

WEB 063. NOT HOW DID HE DIE, BUT HOW DID HE LIVE

Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as man, regardless of birth.
Not what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever read, with word of good cheer.
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away.

WEB 064. WHAT IS SUCCESS

What Is Success?
To laugh often and much;
to win the respect of the intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
to know that one life has been made easier
because you lived here.
This is to have succeeded.

WEB 065. HIS EPITAPH

His Epitaph

Under the wide and starry sky
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live, and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.

This be the verse you grave for me:
Here he lies where he longed to be;
Home is the sailor, home from the sea,
And the hunter home from the hill.

WEB 066. MERCY FOR THE DYING

O merciful Jesus, lover of souls, I beseech You, by the agony of Your Most Sacred Heart and by the sorrows of Your Immaculate Mother, wash clean in Your Blood the sinners of the whole world who are now in their final agony, but especially those on their way to eternal damnation and who are to die this day.
Heart of Jesus who suffered death's agony, I beg You have mercy on these poor souls. Amen

WEB 067. GOODBYE MY FRIEND

Though we never know
Where life will take us,
I know it's just a ride
On the wheel.
And we never know
When death will shake us
And we wonder how
It will feel.

So Goodbye my friend.
I know I'll never see you again.
But the time together
Through all the years,
Will take away these tears.
It's OK now - Goodbye my friend.

I see a lot of things
That make me crazy,
And I guess I held on to you,
You could have run away
And left - well maybe,
But it wasn't time
And we both knew.

So Goodbye My friend.
I know I'll never see you again.
But the love you gave me
Through all the years
Will take away these tears.
I'm OK now - Goodbye my friend.

WEB 068. WHAT SHOULD ONES LIFE BE?

Neat and orderly?
or messy and chaotic?

Quiet desperation,
even quieter compromise?
or daring thrills,
creative experiments?

Walking carefully along
looking down at
gray sidewalks
to avoid crack or pebble?
or leaping from peak to peak
across gaping canyons
looking down
from dizzying heights?

No one should decide for another.
One can only live what one believes.
If you ask, we believe:

Life should not be
a methodical journey to the grave
with the goal being sure, safe arrival
in a well-preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways,
flute of champagne in hand,
screaming "What a Ride!"

WEB 069. DEATH

Death, be not proud, though some have callèd thee
Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so:
For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow
Die not, poor Death; nor yet canst thou kill me.
From Rest and Sleep, which but thy picture be,
Much pleasure, then from thee much more must flow;
And soonest our best men with thee do go—
Rest of their bones and souls' delivery!
Thou'rt slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,
And dost with poison, war, and sickness dwell;
And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well
And better than thy stroke. Why swell'st thou then?
One short sleep past, we wake eternally,
And Death shall be no more: Death, thou shalt die!

WEB 070. We lost a mother with a heart of gold

We lost a mother with a heart of gold,
How much we miss her can never be told,
She shared our troubles and helped us along,
If we follow her footsteps we will never go wrong.

We miss you from your fireside chair,
Your loving smile and gentle air,
Your vacant place no one can fill,
We miss you mother and always will.

She was a mother so very rare,
Content at home and always there,
On earth she toiled, in heaven she rests,
God bless you mother, you were one of the best.

Each time we look at your picture,
You seem to smile and say,
Don’t be sad but courage take,
And love each other for my sake.

WEB 071. O LORD SUPPORT US ALL DAY LONG

O Lord, support us all the day long,
until the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed,
and the fever of life is over,
and our work is done.

Then Lord, in Your mercy grant
us a safe lodging and a Holy Rest,
and Peace at the Last.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

WEB 072. SOFTLY IN THE MORNING

Softly in the morning,
You heard a gentle call,
You took the hand God offered you,
And quietly left us all.

The day you left us mother,
Our hearts just broke in two,
The smallest part is still with us,
And the biggest part with you.

For the rest of our lives
we will miss you mother,
Our secret tears still flow,
Oh, how we really loved you,
No one will ever know.

We miss your smile, your joking ways,
We miss the things, you used to say,
And when old times we do recall
It’s then we miss you most of all.

You were always there when we needed you
No task too great or small,
With loving heart and willing hands,
For us you did it all.

Look around Your garden Lord,
And when she turns and smiles,
Put Your arms around her,
And hold her for a while.

WEB 073. YOU CAN SHED TEARS THAT HE OR SHE IS GONE

“You can shed tears that she/he is gone,
or you can smile because she/he has lived.

You can close your eyes and pray that she'll/he’ll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's/he’s left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her/him,
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her/him and only that she’s/he’s gone
or you can cherish her/his memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,

Be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she’d/he'd want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.”

WEB 074. A Fallen Limb

A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says,
“Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter,
the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will
shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin
Until the day comes we’re together again.”

WEB 075. REMEMBER ME VERSION 2

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go, yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more, day by day,
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.

Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

WEB 076. THANK YOU FOR THE GIFT OF LOVE

Thank you for the gift of love,
now you're sharing it up above.
You had many things to say.
All in a caring way.
You always saw good in everyone,
No matter what they've done.
You were always the one we could all lean on.
Even though it must have felt like a ton.
You were always the strength of the family.
Now we must let you rest calmly.
As we say goodbye,
as tears roll down our eyes.
I know your place in heaven has a good view.
Because you're telling God,
I need to keep an eye on a few.
I know you will always be in our hearts and mind.
So Grandma,
I must go, but I'll never forget you're one of a kind.

WEB 077. FEEL NO SORROW

We feel no guilt in laughter,
you know how much we cared,
we feel no sorrow in a
smile that you're not here to share.
We will probably grieve
forever but you would not
want us to, you'd hope
that we would carry on
the way we always do,
so we will talk about the good times,
and the ways you showed you cared.
The days we spent together,
all the things we shared.
we will let the memories
surround us a word someone may say,
will suddenly recapture a time,
an hour, a day, that brings
you back so clearly as
though you were still here,
and fill us with the feelings
that you are always here,
locked safe within our hearts.

WEB 078. LEGACY OF LOVE

A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you've earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep

WEB 079. MEMORIES ARE GOLDEN

well maybe that is true.

If love alone could have saved you
you never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.

But missing you is a heartache,
That never goes away.

WEB 082. SHE IS GONE

WEB 083. GRANDFATHER

Weep not for me though I am gone into that gentle night.
Grieve if you will, but not for long upon my soul's sweet flight.
I am at peace, my soul's at rest
There is no need for tears.
For with your love I was so blessed.
For all those many years.
There is no pain, I suffer not,
The fear now all is gone.
Put now these things out of your thoughts,
In your memory I live on.
Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife.
Please do not dwell upon my death,
But celebrate my life.

WEB 084. EPITAPH FOR A DARLING LADY

All her hours were yellow sands,
Blown in foolish whorls and tassels;
Slipping warmly through her hands;
Patted into little castles.

Shiny day on shiny day
Tumbled in a rainbow clutter,
As she flipped them all away,
Sent them spinning down the gutter.

Leave for her a red young rose,
Go your way, and save your pity;
She is happy, for she knows
That her dust is very pretty.

WEB 085. DAD

We'll always remember

you always gave us.
You being there

We'll always remember
you Dad because
they'll never be another one
to replace you in our hearts,
and the love we will always
have for you.

WEB 086. GONE FROM MY SIGHT

Gone From My Sight

I am standing upon the seashore.
A ship at my side spreads her white
sails to the morning breeze and starts
for the blue ocean.

She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until at length
she hangs like a speck of white cloud
just where the sea and sky come
to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says;
"There, she is gone!"

"Gone where?"
Gone from my sight. That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull
and spar as she was when she left my side
and she is just as able to bear her
load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone
at my side says, "There, she is gone!"
There are other eyes watching her coming,
and other voices ready to take up the glad
shout;
"Here she comes!"
And that is dying.

WEB 087. REQUIEM

Under the wide and starry sky,
Dig the grave and let me lie.
Glad did I live and gladly die,
And I laid me down with a will.

This be the verse you gave for me:
Here he lies where he longed to be;
Home is the sailor, home from the sea,
And the hunter home from the hill.

WEB 088. TO MY DEAR AND LOVING HUSBAND

If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me, ye women, if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold,
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor aught by love from thee give recompense.
Thy love is such I can no way reply;
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let's so persever,
That when we live no more we may live ever.

WEB 089. MISS ME - BUT LET ME GO

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go.
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone. It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds.
Miss Me - But Let me Go!

When the sun comes after rain
And the bird is in the blue,
The girls go down the lane
Two by two.

When the sun comes after shadow
And the singing of the showers,
The girls go up the meadow,
Fair as flowers.

When the eve comes dusky red
And the moon succeeds the sun,
The girls go home to bed
One by one.

And when life draws to its even
And the day of man is past,
They shall all go home to heaven,
Home at last.

WEB 093. WITH FLOWING TEARS

With flowing tears, dear cherished one,

Sweet emblems of thy dearer self,

And at the south wind's gentle touch,
Spring forth to life and bloom.

Thus, when the sun of righteousness

Thy slumb'ring dust shall bloom afresh,
And soar to meet thy God.

At times endured pain,
We've lived in the sunshine
And walked in the rain.

But now we're separated
And for a time apart,

You're forever in my heart.

Death always seems so sudden,
And it is always sure,
But what is often forgotten
It is not without a cure.

There may be times you miss me,
I sort of hope you do,
But smile when you think of me,
For I'll be waiting for you.

Now there's many things for you to do,
And lots of ways to grow,
So get busy, be happy, and live your life,
Miss me, but let me go.

If there's none, he made the best of this.

WEB 099. I WOULD RATHER SEE YOU SMILING

You must not think that I have gone
Please don't grieve or pine
I'd rather see you smiling

It leads us into other worlds
Quite similar to yours

I know that you are happy now
And no longer in any pain.

But start out bravely with a gallant smile;
And for my sake and in my name
Live on and do all things the same,
Feed not your loneliness on empty days,
But fill each waking hour in useful ways,
Reach out your hand in comfort and cheer
And I in turn will comfort you and hold you near;
And never never be afraid to die,
For I am waiting for you in the sky!

WEB 102. SOMEONE SO DEARLY LOVED

Someone so dearly loved
So popular with his friends
We should not cry forever,
For this is not the end.

His memory lives amongst us,
Times we both laughed and cried,
I cannot bare to lose him,
But one day, we all must die

I hear his voice within me,
and his funny little laugh
So many things remind me;
Of times that are now gone past.

I knew of no-one who hated him,
He was the apple of every eye
Any conflicts, we all once had
are now by the by.

WEB 103. A LATE LARK TWITTERS FROM THE QUIET SKIES

A late lark twitters from the quiet skies;
And from the west,
Where the sun, his day's work ended,
Lingers as in content,
There falls on the old, grey city
An influence luminous and serene,
A shining peace.

The smoke ascends
In a rosy-and-golden haze.
The spires shine, and are changed.
In the valley shadows rise.
The lark sings on.
The sun, closing his benediction,
Sinks, and the darkening air
Thrills with a sense of the triumphing night-
Night with her train of stars
And her great gift of sleep.

So be my passing!
My task accomplished and the long day done,
My wages taken, and in my heart
Some late lark singing,
Let me be gathered to the quiet west,
The sundown splendid and serene,
Death.

WEB 104. PRAYER TO ST.ANTHONY

O gentle St. Anthony, by your holy and apostolic life, you led countless souls to the love of our Divine Lord.I implore you, obtain for me and my loved ones His guidance, you who have the power to lead straying sheep back to the fold of Christ, and to find articles that are lost. On earth your heart was filled with compassion for those in distress or
sorrow. Please bring my request before the Child Jesus, Who loved to rest in your arms, and I believe that you will help me to remain always close to our Divine Lord. O miraculous Wonder Worker, in this hour of need obtain
what I ask of you.
Amen

WEB 105. MEMORIAL FOR A FRIEND

My lips aren't formed to say good-bye
Or to break the silence
With a sigh
For there is much to say though words are gone
And days, it seemed, have withered
One by one.

My heart's not shaped to pains of parting
Or to break with each
Of memory's calling.
For there is much, too much to remember
And there is much, too much
To last forever.

My eyes aren't made to shed a tear
Or to close itself to reality
Plain and clear.
For though there are yet friendships that may seem new
They won't be the same
As I had with you.

WEB 106. I HAVE A PLACE IN HEAVEN

Please don't sing sad songs for me,
Forget your grief and fears,
For I am in a perfect place
Away from pain and tears

It's far away from hunger
And hurt and want and pride,
I have a place in Heaven
With the Master at my side.

My life on earth was very good,
As earthly life can go,
But Paradise is so much more
Than anyone can know.

My heart is filled with happiness
And sweet rejoicing, too.
To walk with God is perfect peace,
A joy forever new.
